Monday 28th march
Pensacola, FL to Breaux Bridge, LA - 325 Miles
Train woke us at 2am, but slept okay after, and got up around 5:45. No breakfast here, but went to gym for 15 mins and had another look around this stunning hotel. We left at 8:15 for New Orleans and drove there over interesting mostly wet lands in 3 hours. Weather warm, clear skies and sunny. By the time we reached New Orleans it was hot, 75F. Mick drove in, we parked and had a wander around the French Quarter. Great place for wandering, full of interesting bars and cafes, clubs and wacky shops etc. Had lunch at The Old Coffee Pot, in St Peter St, where staff were not too friendly but food was great. Had red beans, rice and sausage – lovely.
I drove out around 2.30 and found the I-10 without problem. Headed on past Boca Raton towards Lafeyette, stopped at Breaux Bridge at Holiday Inn Express around 5pm. We actually did four states today – Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana
